What your trying to do is wonderful, and I agree with everyone on geting a 501(c)3 certification. The cost of the cert is different from state to state,in Wisconsin about 700.00.

Your best bet to raise money is holding a bake sale and possibly talking to one of your local churches to hold it on their property....I know few people who turn down a good bake sale at a church.

You can also look online for independent parties donating to causes such as your, there's tons of organisations that donate money,it just takes time and research. In most cases they take applications in spring or fall.

1. Fill out your FAFSA forms online. You will need your last year's tax statements. If you were a dependent, use your parents forms. You will need to know the college names of those schools you wish the information sent to.

2. Go to your school's financial aid office (make an appointment so that you're seen when you need to be seen), and speak to them about what scholarships their schools offer. Some scholarships are "generic" and others are specific to the state or community. They will be able to tell you this.

Please do not take scholarships monies that you do not plan to use for college. There are many who want to attend, and those who take those monies simply to get something other than their degree takes away from another's opportunity for an education.

Scholarships4Students has listings for scholarships for college students as well as highschool students. Some scholarships have age limits, so make sure to read all of the instructions before applying. It will save you time. Some ask for writing samples, so make sure you have some on hand.

Some scholarships are career sensitive, so if you know what you want to study you can look for scholarships that pertain to that degree. For example, many colleges have scholarships through their state department of education specifically for teachers. These scholarships offer partial payment to full payment of study if that teacher upon graduation teaches in a hardship location within the state.

in response to cristal...   have you applied for FAFSA? it might be a little late, but check with student services/ financial aid.. if they did not advise you about this, I would consider going to the dean and speaking to him. If you are in a low-income situation, you may qualify, FAFSA should have been the first thing you should do when applying for school. If you are underage or do not qualify for your own loans, your parents would apply for "parent plus loans" and defer the interest payments. If you are denied the loan - for whatever reason - schools have scholarships that they set aside for situations like this.

Are there any grants for churches to get grants for humanity programs as well as spiritual. We have many poor, disabled, and eldery people in bad need of: fod, clothes, medicine, nursing care, home health care, hospice care.  We have many siungle parents in need of financial assistance.  Are thee any grants to help small churches finance these kind of programs for communities.

Finding out more about different cultures has always been a passion of mine but since I love anime, manga and japanese pop culture so much I would like to study there. Is there any way that financial aid can pay for tuition fees and any type of housing both at the same time?

For some of the rest of you , if you want to know how to write a grant and what they look for, http://www.grantgate.com/ and http://www.thefederalmoneyretriever.com/ has a section the gives you this information.

Grantgate is foundation money and FMR is federal of course. Both have programs that hep you apply and help to write the letter of inquiry, which most places don't inform you of.

in response to ray11...   I hope someone who knows realestate answers you because I'm not sure. I would say yes, but if you have or do keep your payments up, you shouldn't have a problem. But like I said , don't try taking that to the bank. Contact the Dept. of Ed and ask some one then some one in the American Legion or Veterns Administration and see what they say.

I have been in foster care since the age of 4. I was never able to depend on my parent's because of my father being incarcerated since i was 2. My mother is mentally incapable of taking care of me also due to her alcoholism and drug addiction. I would greatly appreciate any support that I may receive from this program. I am planning on going to school to become a Veterinary Technician.  I want to make something of myself and I use my parent's as perfect examples of who I definitely do not want to be. Thank you for your time and any of your support will be greatly appreciated.
